We discovered this new snack chip at Kosherfest. It is a new product recently introduced by the makers of The Simply Bar. These chips are packed with protein. They are currently available in two flavors, herb and chili - with more on the way, including barbecue. Both current flavors of these pea protein chips, offer a mixture of tastes — spicy, savory and slightly sweet. We think that they provide a satisfying and tasty choice for healthy snacking.

Boon Chocolate "Happiness is Chocolate!"
For our Australian friends, we are spotlighting Boon Chocolate, Darlinghurst, Australia. We experienced these wonderful chocolates at Kosherfest 2012 and the representative was kind enough to send us samples before he went back home. Founded by the sister and brother team of Fanny and Alex Chen, the chocolates are handmade in the Boon store in Darlinghurst. They are made from Belgian and European chocolate and the Chens use as many local ingredients as possible – fresh cream, milk or other specialty Australian ingredients such as Tasmanian pepper berry and local honey produce. The Chens philosophy in chocolate–making is to produce in small batches so that the chocolates are consumed within four weeks of being made. Freshness is key to appreciating the individual flavor characteristic to each chocolate creation. As you dear readers know, we are the ultimate chocoholics and the sampling of this product was pure bliss!
No artificial preservatives
All natural ingredients

The design of the Bixby label has a fun 1920's nostalgic look but the taste of the chocolate candy bars reflects the modern vision of founder Kate McAleer – nutritious and natural chocolate products. Founded in 2011, the company is committed to a better community, world and uses green and fair–trade sources. McAleer has based her recipes on personal travels — China and France — which are reflected in the unique combinations of exotic spices, pure chocolate, healthy nuts and dried fruits. Most of the ingredients are organic, natural, and GMO–free; the dark chocolate bars are vegan. Available in six chocolate + fruit, nut, spices, combinations, we can attest to the quality and taste of the bars. We sampled each flavor (six) and they are delicious; a good selection for the health–conscious chocolate connoisseur – or anyone who loves good chocolate.
We are always looking for new, healthy gluten–free items for our readers with food sensitivities and have found such an item. Introduced this past summer by Sahale Snacks, producers of all–natural nut snacks and blends, the Sahale Crunchers line is a combination of lightly roasted, sliced almonds that are combined with a fruit and spice combination. They are available in three flavor combinations – we tasted the Parmesan Cheese + Herbs and it is good! Almonds are one of nature's healthful food sources and these almonds are the perfect snack. They can also be used to add a crunchy zing to salads, oatmeal, yogurt, rice, pasta...it is up to you.
Almonds with Cherries, Apples + Maple: a delicious combination of sliced almonds with naturally dried cherries and apples with a light maple glaze and a touch of cinnamon
Almonds with Cranberries, Sesame Seeds + Honey: a delicate blend of almonds, naturally dried cranberries and sesame seeds with a light orange blossom honey glaze and pure groundMadagascar vanilla bean.
Almonds with Parmesan Cheese + Herbs: an Italian-inspired mix of almonds, tangy grated parmesan cheese, flavorful sun dried tomatoes and fresh oregano, thyme and basil.
Mention Risotto and visions of standing over the stove and stirring constantly appear in one's mind. While the from–scratch version is a classic, there are alternatives to enjoying this popular Italian dish. Lundberg Family Farms, located in the heart of the fertile Sacramento Valley, has been producing rice products since 1937 – the company now spans four generations of descendants of founders Albert and Frances Lundberg. Included among their products are a line of flavorful, packaged Organic Risotto Mix products. Made from Arborio rice, just add the contents of the box, which includes seasonings, some water, stir, and 20 to 30 minutes later you have a delicious risotto dish ready to serve to family and friends. Several of the packaged flavored risotto rice products are not certified kosher, so please check the certification on the box.
